EPW Committee Approves 10 Nominations

Senate Environment and Public Works Committee Approves 10 Nominations
March 4, 2010

The Committee approved nominees for positions at several agencies, including the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Appalachian Regional Commission, the Northern Border Regional Commission and the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). The nominations were reported out of the committee by voice vote, and will now go to the full Senate for consideration.

The Center supports [support letter] the nominations of Apostolakis, Magwood and Ostendorff. We conducted no review on the other nominees.

• George Apostolakis, nominee to be a Member of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission

• William D. Magwood IV, nominee to be a Member of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission

• William Charles Ostendorff, nominee to be a Member of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission

• Arthur Elkins, Jr., nominee to be Inspector General, Environmental Protection Agency
• Earl Gohl, Jr., nominee to be Federal Co-Chair, Appalachian Regional Commission
• Sandford Blitz, nominee to be Federal Co-Chair, Northern Border Regional Commission
• Marilyn A. Brown, nominee to be a Member of the Board of Directors, Tennessee Valley Authority
• Barbara S. Haskew, nominee to be a Member of the Board of Directors, Tennessee Valley Authority
• Neil G. McBride, nominee to be a Member of the Board of Directors, Tennessee Valley Authority
• William B. Sansom, nominee to be a Member of the Board of Directors, Tennessee Valley Authority
