Michael Brune, right, has replaced Carl Pope as the Executive Director of the Sierra Club and will take the reigns in March. Brune was previously with Rainforest Action Network for the last seven years, for Greenpeace and the Coastal Rainforest Coalition, now known as ForestEthics. Brune has undergraduate degrees in economics and finance. Brune, 38, grew up in Chadwick Beach, New Jersey.Michael is married to Mary and they have two children, Olivia, five and sebastian, one. They live in Alameda, California. The Sierra Club is based in San Francisco, California. (L.A. Times, 1/21/10)
