The Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment met on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 to consider the Tennessee Valley Authority's Kingston Ash Slide. The subcommittee received testimony from representatives from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Tennessee Valley Authority, the TVA Office of Inspector General, and engineering firms.The purpose of this hearing is to receive updates as to the status of the Kingston ash slide cleanup efforts, and also analysis of the root cause of the Kingston surface impoundment collapse. The subcommittee is chaired by Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-Tx), right.
